I just got back from seeing The Hangover. Now let me start off by saying that I really did want to like this. I heard so many good things about it but, as I expected, it was totally overrated. I had several people tell me this was the "funniest movie ever." I've heard of an adult saying the same. Really, people?

The movie is exactly why movies suck these days. Remember when everyone gave Walter hell for not wanting to see it because it's a teen movie? Well, Walter was right. The "humor" in this disaster is a mix of stuff thirteen year olds love and "BRTD humor." He will absolutely love this movie since part of the "funny" in this timeless classic would be the amount of time the word fuck is said. Oh, they say shitt a lot, too, and stuff like, "Come on, guys. We have to get our act/shittogether!" Seriously, how many times were those lines used?

I think I laughed a total of six times. The acting sucked. The dialogue was embarassing. The "jokes" were hilariously predictable. I mean, come on...are we done laughing at people getting hit (or, in this case, tazored) in the balls? I think the funny, Chinese villan has been over done, too.

Now I'm not a big movie guy but maybe this is exactly why I'm not. "Comedies" these days are horrible. You think it was funny? Eh, whatever. I just can't stand this type of humor. But to say that this is the funniest movie ever? Really? Give me a break.

The credits and beginning jokes made the movie worthwhile imo.

The only part I really liked was when they entered the suite. That's only because they were playing my favorite song. The wedding singer singing 50 Cent's "Lollipop" was sort of amusing as well.

You mean you didn't like any of the jokes in the car or lobby or the credits?

I was waiting for this type of response.  Wink

I just really despise this type of humor. Catch me watching an episode of The Office or RENO! 911 and I'll be on the ground laughing.  Tongue

In the lobby? Really? That was perhaps the lamest part of the movie. The car scenes were stupid, too. Some of the photos in the credits were...ok.  Tongue

Movie was HILARIOUS. You're telling me none of the scenes in this made you laugh? I was rolling on the floor just after seeing this video and realized I HAD to see the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YODfsrD8raI

I hate movies like this as well. I'm way over stupid, frat-boy, "raunchy," series-of-wacky-events-with-friends, American Pie-esque humor.

Ouch, ouch, ouch. First of all, Lil Wayne did Lollipop, and second, 50 Cent did Candy Shop, which was being sung in the movie. That's an embarrassing mistake for anyone who claims to be a fan of rap.

actually from that preview it doesn't look all that funny.

And I consider myself to have a good sense of humor.

I said I laughed maybe a half dozen times.

Exactly! That's the especially ironic part here - BRTD hates frat boy stuff even though he's basically one of them.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, simple mistake. The opening line is about "licking the lollipop" so you can see where I made the mistake.

And the mistake has nothing to do with being a fan of rap. If anything, a rap fan wouldn't care to remember either of those songs. They were lame.

What?! Lollipop was lame? Tha Carter III was hailed as the best rap album in 2008 along with Paper Trails.... and no rap fan remembers that song?? Maybe 50 Cent I agree with, but sluffing off Lil Wayne is a horrible oversight!

...

Who said it was about frat boys? It's about a frat boy mentality which can go on well past someone's 20s.

Ok, that's nice but that's the album, not necessarily the song.

I enjoyed the movie a lot...not quite as much as the Forty Year Old Virgin, but almost.

My favorite scene. Kiki Utterly awesome. It still makes me cry every time I see it. Smiley Another scene I like goes like this:

"Why is my hand between two pillows?"
"Those aren't pillows!!"

Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

A favorite scene involves Jonathan Winters and the destruction of a gas station. It's a classic scene of physical comedy, done by a master.

What? How can anyone argue it isn't frat boy humor? I loved it, but it definitely isn't for everyone. Maybe you're a future frat boy.
