I can pull up any map for a specific region or department (or even a specific area in a department).

The inner East is amazing by the fact pink is widespread, despite an old right tradition, and widespread even in rural areas and even in areas where the FN was strong but with voters that vote for Sarkozy in 2007.
Especially, Meuse, Haute-Marne, Vosges, even Marne and Haut-Rhin.
Sur, Haute-Saône and Meurthe-et-Moselle have always been more on the left, but, still, the entire map is not very blue...

The Lyonnais (from Loire to Ain) isn't very good either for the right.

20 years ago, cantonal elections were the best for the right...

Now, Sarkozy plans to gather conseillers régionaux and conseillers généraux in one unique group of "conseillers territoriaux" who would act as généraux or régionaux, depending on subjects. A way to counter PS's local influence.

For the PCF in the Nord, it's more the Valenciennois than in Pas-de-Calais that they remain strong, Hash is right on this and on the reasons of this.

Anyway, we must all CONGRATULATE Hash for this astounding, fantastic, amazing map. All, even those who don't know much about French politics.
