Complaint #1. Why do you have a Saudi flag in your office? Are you receiving dirty money from the dirty Saudis?

Statement from Senator Hashemite

I am pleased that the political crisis emerging from the presidential election has been resolved and accepted by all parties. I have full confidence in President Lief and Vice President Bacon King to form a competent, reformist and active executive team. It will be a pleasure to work with them in the Senate.

I have voted Aye on the Atlasian National Healthcare Bill, as have many of my fellow Senators. I am happy of the final version of the bill and I am happy that the necessary changes have been made to the legislation.

I am of the opinion that this bill in a very important step in providing quality care to the millions of uninsured Atlasian citizens. It is a step towards a progressive Atlasia that caters to the least well-off of our society.

Citizens may disagree with me, but I hold the personal opinion that this bill is a step in the right direction.

Regarding the absentee voting booth, I would like to clarify a few things. As per the new law passed by the Senate just recently, a public absentee voting request form must be filled out prior to the absentee election for a vote cast in the absentee voting booth to be counted as valid.

I note that for unexplained reasons, no such public form was posted or made available. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that any voter has the right to cast a valid absentee ballot in this election.

My recommendation to all voters is to vote in the regular voting booth when it opens in approximately one week from today. You wouldn't want all sort of legal problems arising surrounding your vote.

Yermât!

For a further reminder, here is the relevant legislation:

We don't need more of the same old, same old. While I respect Hashemite, I feel he is just more of the same.

Like I said, winning is not as important to me. There ARE things more important. I don't want Rowan's vote or support. I do want the votes of those who are respected in Atlasia and the Northeast.

Get Smid to run, and I may reconsider. But I will never vote for this joke that you have running now.

He previously got my default "he hasn't antagonised me with pointless posts, but I don't know him well enough to really know him" FF rating, but I've read more of his work in the past few days and he strikes me as a really sensible, down-to-earth type of a guy. He's moved into clear FF territory with me.

Obviously I would love to run and I always hold out this ridiculous hope that he will when its pretty clear he's leaning heavily, heavily against it.  I also did not encourage Hamilton to run, but I think he'd back out if a better candidate was found.

I support Hash in his bid for re-election, and will do my best to rally what JCP voters we have in that region to his side.

RL is pretty busy for me at the moment, and likely to stay that way for some time. I have no intention of running in this election campaign, nor the following one. It is possible but unlikely that I may run sometime after that, but it is most likely my next candidacy will be in the vicinity of Christmas 2010 or sometime thereafter.

I fully support Hash's bid for re-election. He has been nothing but loyal to the residents of the Northeast and has been a productive senator, both in debate and in general matters. Best of luck.

Man I'll have to think about this Northeast race. I kind of like Hamilton's ideas too. At the moment, I'll refrain from endorsing either of you until I can fully examine each candidate's stances.

I am pleased to announce my intentions to run for re-election. I am short on time tonight, and most of tomorrow as well; but I fully intend to officially launch this campaign in the next few days or so.

In the meantime, I am currently drafting a bill important to me and a potential activity-booster in Atlasia, and my office remains open to questions, comments and proposed legislation from constituents.
