Actually, on second thought, I've absolutely heard this one frequently. I've also heard asshat every so often. I guess what I don't remember is exactly when and where I heard the terms and who was saying them (besides when I say it).

I like both very well.  Asshat gives me the image of someone putting his ass on someone's head, which is of course a major fetish and also very taboo here in Thailand.  Assclown gives one the titillating image of someone 'clowning' with another's ass.. have to admit thats a habit of mine.

"Adlai" is reserved for one member in particular.    I don't think I ever used "horse's ass" here. Actually, I'm pretty sure I never have. I know people that use it regularly and I can't stand it. 

"Child" is a favorite, though.
