That sounds like a lie to me, for 2 reasons:

1. If he was uncomfortable, why did he allow it go on all through dinner?
2. The manner in which he told the story reminds me of a friend who makes up small stories like that to prove a point - that my just be coincidence, but as I was watching it, my friend popped in my head.

Heck - I've touched a lot of guys' inner thighs now that I think about it - I always win whenever somebody trys to play gay chicken with me - I can pretty much comfortably touch a guy anywhere - I'm used to it, since I wrestled in high school, so there really isn't a spot on a guy's body that I haven't touched.

I reciprocate hugs from friends and family, but I don't initiate hugs myself. And I don't touch anyone -- friends, family, coworkers, etc -- in casual conversation.

As for Brooks, why didn't he just move away from the "senator" sexually harrassing him? I've done that when a teacher got "touchy-feely" (with a backrub) with me back in 9th grade.

I think it's highly likely he's just making this up, but if there is any truth in it, it's possible that it was a very elderly senator -- Strom Thurmond, perhaps. Old people don't typically have the same space and boundary issues as the rest of us when it comes to physical contact, and I've seen old folks who just like to have continuous contact with another person when they're close to them.
