Garner/Kennedy vs. La Guardia/La Follette(1940)

Ok...Let's say Franklin declined to run for a third term in 1940, and popular Vice President John N. Garner was able to beat Postmaster General James Farley to clinch the nomination. In attempt to appeal to the disgruntled Farley delegates, Garner chose UK Ambassador...Catholic, Irish-American Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. of Massachusetts. Although many of the party boses worried about such a Conservative ticket after the Roosevelt years, they went along with due to both candidates strong push for Isolationisim.

On the Republican Side, Much to the dismay of Conservative Senator Robert Taft of Ohio, the nomination is given to the 5ft 2in, Mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia of New York City. A popular New Dealer and Roosevelt Ally, La Gaurdia is seen as a major play for voters in the Northeast and Industrial states who found a Southerner on top of the Democratic Ticket as unsatisfactory. La Guardia chose Isolationist(Much to the dismay of his own Interventionalist beliefs) Bob La Follette Jr of Winsconsin to add some type of balance to the ticket. Roosevelt himself would privatley back La Gaurdia, as he felt he would better be able to continue the legacy of the programs he created. So how does this alt 1940 election turn out?

I don't think it would be such a washout Lahbas,Garner was polling ahead of all the GOP Candidates before Franklin annouced he was seeking a third term. I think La Gaurdia should still pull off a comfortable victory though.
