This likely won't be relevant for me, naturally. But I'm supportive of the idea. It need not necessarily be awkward or strange either. Attending wouldn't be evidence that you're a total loser without real-life friends.

And I mean that in a non-sarcastic way.

Although, personally, I would need to know that some sane people were attending if I were to dare. If I go to America next summer, which I have some extremely loose plans to do, I would probably try to attend.

I've never been to Chicago...
Indianapolis would be good too. We have a nice, new airport, hotel prices aren't ridiculous, and we are pretty centered, considering that we have more east coast members than west coast.

I think I can find far better uses for my money than to spend it on a plane ticket, a hotel room, and meals just to meet somebody from an online forum.  It is one thing to do it when you have to be there for a job-related reason, and you just happen to meet someone.  It is quite another to plan an entire trip around it, spending a fortune as you go.
