McCrory (R): 46%
Perdue (D): 32%

The study of 600 registered voters was conducted July14-17, 2009 by Tel Opinion Research of Alexandria, Virginia.  All respondents were part of a fully representative sample of registered voters in North Carolina. For purposes of this study, voters we interviewed had to have voted in either the 2004, 2006 or 2008 general elections or were newly registered voters since 2008.

The confidence interval associated with a sample of this size is such that: 95 percent of the time, results from 600 interviews (registered voters) will be within +-4% of the “True Values.” True Values refer to the results obtained if it were possible to interview every person in North Carolina who had voted in either the 2004, 2006 or 2008 general elections or were newly registered voters since 2008.

Perdue still has time to turn things around, if nothing else. More governors, right now, seem out of favor than in favor

Yeah, but she has plummeted unbelievably bad.  Her approval rating is at 25% after just six months on the job.

McCrory should've been elected too. Perdue has been a disaster, as predicted. They can reap what they sow.

Yeah, Perdue has been pretty universally reviled. This really isn't a surprise.

When I saw Perdue on TV (after the election), I was literally amazed that this woman won.  I've rarely, if ever, seen any halfway successful who looked worse on TV.

Well she has the typical budget woes all governors have right now. She also really stepped in it by creating a new position, the CEO of schools with a huge salary, and appointed someone to that position to "run the schools". The trouble is the state already has an elected official to do that job in Democrat June Atkinson who is very popular both in the state at-large and among teachers. Trying to usurp the power of fellow Democrat who has much support among an important Democratic constituency was not good first move by a Democratic Governor who was elected by a relatively narrow 3% while other Dems were improving there numbers across the board on election night. The courts recently sided with Atkinson and the new appointee to the new position resigned.

Second Easley is only the latest in a slew of Democratic scandals in the State from former State House Speaker Jim Black to State Representive Tom Wright, and several others stretching back to Frank Ballance and Meg Scott Phipps in 2003 and 2004.
