About this Poll Blum & Weprin Associates Inc. of New York conducted the random telephone poll of 823 likely voters Oct. 29 through Friday. It has an error margin of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

In 19 out of 20 cases, poll responses probably would differ by no more than that amount in either direction, even if all adults in Texas households with telephones were interviewed.

An error margin of 3.5 percentage points means that each response could vary by 7 points. For instance, if 40 percent of respondents chose a certain candidate, the result could range from 36.5 percent to 43.5 percent.

Differences in how questions are worded or in what order they are asked can cause results to vary.
