About this Poll

Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich was in single digits several weeks ago, but surged in a poll conducted Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 by the Capital Survey Research Center, the polling arm of the Alabama Education Association.

The survey was not just conducted among potential Republican voters, but they made up about 38 percent of those surveyed. Thirty-two percent of those surveyed identified themselves as independent with 27 percent identifying themselves as a Democrat.
The CSRC polled 616 likely voters in the state.
