Election Notes:
  • Democratic electoral votes were cast for two Vice Presidential Candidates: Richard Johnson (147) and William Smith (23).
  • Since Richard Johnson did not receive a majority of electoral votes, a vote in the U.S. Senate was required (see 12th ammendment to the U.S. Constitution). Johnson won that vote.
  • Harrison Whig electoral votes were cast for two Vice Presidential Candidates: Francis Granger (63) and John Tyler (10). Click on Elect Vote button for details.
  • Electors from the state of South Carolina were appointed by the state legislature (and not elected in a popular vote).
