The Geography of the GOP Primary Results: New Hampshire
In New Hampshire, you can see that McCain did very well across the state, but especially inland and mountainous areas. Romney narrowly beat out McCain in the more populous southeast.
It should be noted that, unlike the pattern in most states, New Hampshire’s more rural areas have more t tended in the past few elections to vote more Democrat than Republican in Presidential races. (see maps here - Blue for Republican, Red for Democrat) Nevertheless, in these rural counties southern conservative Mike Huckabee did better than he did in the southeastern areas, and in Coos County he got almost as many votes as Romney.
