Alpine County is a county in eastern California, along the Nevada border.

Along with neighboring Mono County, Mono is one of several formerly ultra-Republican counties to have switched into the Democratic column in the 2004 Presidential election.

Alpine County is known for having a strange make-up: it is 74 percent White and 19% Native American. The religious make-up is also notable, with roughly 40% of residents being Mormon and 50% non-practicing.
