In Washington, the Secretary of State serves as the chief elections officer, chief corporations officer, and supervisor of the State Archives. The Secretary of State is second in the line of succession to the Office of Governor, after the Lt. Governor. The Secretary of State is elected every four years. Sam Reed currently serves as the Secretary of State.
