With Major League Baseball about to announce it's new Hall of Fame members, I thought we could impersonate the writers who fill out the ballots annually.

Who do you believe belongs in the Hall of Fame?

Pick a maximum of ten, or a minimum of one (or no one at all, if you so prefer).

I'm a HOF elitist (in that I think it should be reserved only for the best of the best).

With that in mind, only Rivera deserves it in this list.

The Baines Precedent requires me to vote for all of them.

I’m voting in the steroids boys. Hypocrisy to keep them out.

Obvious locks:
1. Mariano Rivera
2. Roy Halladay
3. Mike Mussina
4. Scott Rolen
5. Curt Schilling

Non-obvious cases but ultimately have a deserving case
6. Andy Pettitte
7. Edgar Martinez
8. Larry Walker
9. Gary Sheffield
10. Billy Wagner

I think Fred McGriff has a fantastic case as well, but I missed his prime and there is no strategy in voting for him this year. I want to see the case for Vizquel, but I don't think there is one. 37% for a second year vote total is perplexing.

Berkman and Oswalt don't have nearly as good stat compilation as I had expected for players who had such consistently high MVP and Cy Young finishes throughout their careers. Too many candidates are much better. Helton's case is about as strong as both of them. All three are only marginally ahead of Andruw Jones, who is in no way a Hall of Famer so I would be unlikely to ever vote for them.

Very emotional. This is going to be a very unique Hall of Fame ceremony that I await with uninhibitable anticipation. I have to make up words to express how much I want to hear these speeches.

A very deserving induction class indeed.

I wanna see Walker get inducted next year with Jeter.

He is deserving but it is kind of silly that he's the first w/ 100%

Roy Halladay's family has announced that his plaque will have a blank hat on it. Mussina is non-committal so far about which team will be on his plaque.
