If Republican were to tell you what they were really thinking about the potential 2020 Presidential Candidates... What are they thinking about Beto...

Do they really fear a Beto run... or do they think he would be a weak candidate and hope he runs?

He'd scare me if he didn't use his Dad's connections to get out of the consequences of drunk driving.

My guess would be that there is not yet a consensus about Beto in 2020. I would assume that the majority opinion would be, "He lost to an unpopular incumbent after raising $70+ million in a supposed 'Blue Wave'. He's all hype."

However, should he prove to preserve an ounce of his momentum and generate media buzz as Obama once had, I think the Republican reaction may move into fear mode.

Ladies and gentlemen, Trump derangement syndrome!

Stuff like this is what turns likely voters away from the democratic party.

Outside of the dementia bit, which is hard to prove, everything he said is accurate.

This never hurt Bush.  Also- it pales in comparison to Trumps past.

Beto actually turned it around pretty good in the campaign- saying that it is an examples of the need for criminal justice reform... that had he been from a different background- he wouldn't have got the 2nd chance, etc.

He's not a sexual predator (that's really rude), and there is no proof that he is a tax evader, and being a republican who disagrees with you doesn't mean he's a con artist. Nice try, but no.

Not that it would necessarily prevent me from voting for him over a Democrat but I fail to see how these aren't at least likely truths lmao.

I'll give you the first two as yet unproven, but the third is literally a fact. Remember Trump University? He's a con artist, that's just a fact.

They're not worried yet. Right now we're at the "Obama 2006" stage, where his own party was boosting him and Republicans were mocking the very idea of his candidacy. "He's too inexperienced!" "He's nothing but a media darling!" etc.

Ummm, Obama was a senator while Beto is just a congressman.

That doesn't change the fact that the things said about Beto today were the same things being said about Obama in 2006. No one cared that he was a Senator, they cared that he "only had two years of experience."

They probably, perhaps unjustifiably, think he would be easy to beat by simply shouting "ROBERT!" and talking about how he lost a Senate election and got into a DUI (while clearly forgetting about Bush). So far, that seems to be all they have on him. And they are arrogant enough to think it would work. Though considering how dumb the average American is, they very well might succeed with this.

Republicans all across the country were sh**tting their pants when they were watching those Texas results come in. So there's your answer.

What other past President lost a high profile Senate race and then ran for and won the Presidency only two years later? Hmmm. That guy seemed to go on to do great things

How will Atlas react when Tom Cruise shoots President O'Rourke during the premiere of Star Wars: Episode XI?
