Absolutely shameful levels of irresponsibility. Undermining the current Democratic nominee should be grounds for severe disciplinary measures by the party (and please note that applies to Manchin sh**tting on Biden on Fox News as well).

Posts like these inform tell me quite enough already. True left wingers would back Corbyn, not say Blair was great because of his Iraq involvement... and tolerate Rashida Tlaib's opinion of free speech. And a left winger would also not vote DA in South Africa.

All right, that's it for me. Laki goes into the ignore list.

Anyway, this is obviously a deeply traumatic event for Slovakia and I can only hope that the entire political class will treat it with the dignity and levelheadedness it requires. Whatever the attacker's motives, I'll expect the condemnation to be unanimous, and I hope (without much hope) that no one will try to milk this for political gain. I also hope that there won't be any gap in leadership at a time when Slovakia needs to remain actively involved in European politics.

The fact that he puts me on the ignore list, despite Estrella comparing me to Léon Degrelle, a nazi, who isn't called out for this.

Overall his position seems to be: "I don't really care about Palestine but  Netanyahu", which admittably is better than most of the forum, but he is still an Israel shill.

I think instructions should be over by now and onto the testimony. I'd think they'd be back to deliberating by noon at the latest?

Yeah, they're into the testimony now.  Anna Bower (@AnnaBower on X) provides a really good play-by-play.

I read the portion of the instructions that the judge was reading, and was impressed by how clear and understandable they were.  This has been the case in most of the juries I've been on, but I do recall one (a civil trial in Florida) where some of the instructions were hard to follow.  There was one we just couldn't agree on in the jury room, so we sent a note to the judge saying it was confusing and asking him to clarify it.  We went back into the courtroom, and the judge, in an exasperated tone, said "The instruction is NOT confusing.  It's perfectly clear."  And then he repeated the instruction, enunciating each word slowly and carefully.  Which didn't help us much.

What are the demographics of Black DA voters anyway ? There was a bunch of press about them reaching out to the black middle class but did that ever lead to anything ?

2019 went badly. Mmusi Maimane was fired and a buch of other black figures like Herman Masahaba, Lindiwe Mazibuko, Phumzile Van Damme all left; all complaining about the way the party treated them. The DA doubled down on white identity politics and we have the delightful results we have, a very different entity to what they were 10 years ago.

As for Black DA voters, it's hard to tell as the question of where do you live as a middle class black person, as they might live areas that are now fairly racially mixed like Rosebank in Johanneburg or in wealthy areas of former townships.

In the case of Rosebank, it's hard to tell exactly how black people their vote. Except that this year the DA vote was stable while the ANC collapsed from about 25% to 10%, mainly to ActionSA and Rise Mzansi. In the case of the latter, the best example I know is the eastern part of Diepkloof in Soweto, which had a DA vote of about 10% in 2014/19 before going big for ActionSA in 2021, and has no results yet.

On the whole, I would guess that black people who leave the townships to former white-now mixed areas are probably more likely to vote DA.

Pomfret has reported no? At least I saw from a Dawie tweet yesterday and it was unanimous eff and anc.  UMnengi is definitely DAs best success case in the nation.
A rural area in the ward has. The actual village, not yet. Although, in reality, what characterises it the most is it's turnout rates.

Has DA abandoned the white identity politics? if so great.

Reminds me of that supposed "whitey tape" from 2008/2012.

I don't believe any "rumored" tape exists until it's released.
I agree with this. And We shouldn’t be hyping up unconfirmed things like this.

Trump is making significant inroads with minorities, that this stunt reeks of desperation in an ill fated attempt to reverse those gains. It won’t work - minorities are sick of being used a political props by the democrat party which has failed them time and time again.

The march of prudishness continues onward. And the same members on this site will continue to deny it. The average 15 year old knows full well what sex is. What's truly frightening is that not a single member of the assembly voted against it, this is the kind of unanimity we see in authoritarian states like North Korea.

When I used DoorDash to order Vodka to my house , I had to take a photo of my ID before I was allowed to order . So is that anti freedom too because I didn’t view it as that

Well do you think ordering and consuming a controlled substance that alters your state of mind and damages your internal organs the same as watching people get it on

State of Mind: Yes

Damages your Internal Organs: No

But that is why the legal age to drink is higher

Have you ever heard of the liver?

I saw this tweet the other day and I do think this is indicative of the average voter, at least the average young voter. The way the internet exists now, people have lost all concept of what it means to seek out information before just assuming that the information is being kept secret. It's abundantly clear that the average American adult slept through most of their high school classes and/or left behind everything they learned, because we now have to hold these peoples' hands while they are confronted with things that they were expected to learn 20, 30, 40 years ago.

This is also why so many young people are so angered that Biden hasn't single handedly codified Roe v. Wade, cancelled student loans, legalized marijuana, etc. They fundamentally do not understand that the President is not a dictator.

I co-sign basically all of this. Even the smart kids in my high school for the most part probably have next to no idea how our government works, nor do they probably care. I attribute a lot of it to a lack of people giving a sh**t.

And this is the saddest part they don;t know want to know. Im so tired of having to explain to people that executives cannot make or repeal laws.

But oooooh boy, if there is a tape and it's released, that'll make the Access Hollywood tape look quaint by comparison
Nah, it will have the same real influence on the election results as every other Trump scandal, i.e. none.

if Comey had kept his mouth shut the Access Hollywood tape would have ended his campaign.
