QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q. What even is this?A. Article II§4 of the Second Constitution, as amended, empowers the first minister of Frémont to call an early general election at any point during his three-month term in office. The most recent parliamentary election was in August 2019, and resulted in a majority for the government of First Minister Scott. On 28 October, Scott resigned and passed his title and powers to the Speaker of Parliament, former Prime Minister Harry S Truman. Truman
invoked his ministerial prerogative to dissolve parliament on 2 November, triggering new elections.
Q. What offices are up for election?A. Voters will elect a first minister and four members of parliament.
Q. How do I run for office?A. Easy: just announce your candidacy
here by 2 pm on Thursday, 7 November (the day before the election) and your name will be included on the ballot.
Q. Should I run for office?A. Yes, you should. Even if you're not quite sure how this whole thing works, there are plenty of seasoned hands who will be more than happy to help you. A healthy democracy thrives on citizen participation, so even if you're still getting the hang of things, becoming involved is always preferable to sitting on the sidelines.
