OK, I propose an amendment.
Amendment:  Paying for Museum

In order to pay for this proposal, a $15 admission fee should be levied for admission to the museum.

Thank you for taking this up. Where in the bill should this slot? A Section 1, Clause 3 would be a natural choice, but I leave this up to you to determine.

Sounds good to me.

Yeah, it's all based on projected museum attendance, though I think this has never been fully investigated.

The amendment should generate around $3.73 million.

Thank you. This means for the House that the bill is not properly funded as is, since we need $10 million.

What exactly was the $10 million needed for (for each individual item)? Can we cut out parts of the project to get the price down to a manageable cost?

It shouldn't cost $10 million to operate a museum once built and running, and at least based on some figures I found on operating costs for many museums, we should be able to slash that in half to $5 million annually and save money there (I can try to remember to pull those figures up and link them when I'm not using my phone).

As for the startup cost and other ways to fund it, I'd be open to discussing ideas.

I know some museums offer annual membership rates for large groups, as well as rental spaces and retail gift shops to generate revenue, but admittedly I'm not the best and figuring out numbers for that sort of thing.

How about free year pass for investing into the start-up costs?

There would need to be an amendment to edit the text to reflect reduced operating costs after year one, followed by a motion to suspend PayGo for the uncovered portion of the bill.

It also occurs to me that you may have meant offering a year's pass as a reward to people who will invest in supporting the startup cost of the museum. Either way, we still have some big funding question marks.

Yeah, I intended for the tickets to help offset some of the building costs as well as maintain continuing operation.  There is some uncertainty due to us not having a perfect estimate of attendance.

We do have an official estimate above. Now we can continue working from here. Tongue

So anyone have a spare $7 million dollars laying around?

You know this doesn't have to be so damn hard. The problem here is the record setting levels of disengagement from legislating.

If there is nothing else, we could motion to suspend PayGo. It's a cheap enough bill that it is basically a rounding error on the bottom line.

As of last check it wouldn't even display.

since the format has 1 = billion and only has two decimals, so anything under 10 million is pathetic.

That being said it is pathetic that we cannot find the money. Tongue
