I mentioned this in the Humor Section of the forums, but figured I'd bring it here.

Al Sharpton hosted Saturday Night Live on December 6th.  But many TV stations across the nation, refused to air this episode, due to the fact that Al Sharpton is a Democratic candidate for the 2004 Presidential election. This first started in Iowa, and apparently other affiliates followed the lead.

More on the Iowa decision not to air the show here. http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/12/06/elec04.prez.sharpton.snl.ap/index.html

My NBC affiliate WICD in Champaign, Illinois, did not show this episode, but instead showed a re-run of the "Best of Steve Martin" as many other affiliates did. I would like to know, how many of you also did not see Al Sharpton host? And do you think that if you would have seen him host the show, that it would have affected your political feelings for him in anyway? Or for that matter, do you think it would change ANYONE’S feeling for him?

I think it was Scarborough who said that last night on MSNBC. He said, "Sure, Al was funny on the show, but what about the fact that he sided with a lying girl who said she was raped and blah blah blah."

Why do people always do that? They can't be postitive without being negative. They are assholes. They are kind of like your drunken abusive step-father, who says..."Sure, you graduated from high school, and got into an Ivy League school, but you don't put food on the table now do you?! You're a lousy bum!!"

With a compliment, comes an insult, and with an insult comes another insult. Why can't people be nice?

Oh yeah, because we're human....

Al is a liar, a racist and a piece of scum.  I say negative things about him because he has never do anything worth cheering about.
Politics, and a late night comedy show, are two different things. If Scarborough, and yourself, wish to speak badly about Sharpton, by all means, do so. I'll probably be right there next to you saying things just as bad. However, you can't mix feelings of him hosting SNL and his politics, I see no correlation.
