Probably vote straight GOP since 1856.

You do realize that the GOP and the Democrats have completely switched on most issues since this time?

Actually most issues have themselves completely changed since that time.

I voted for Smith in 1928 because my primary issue would have been Prohibition, which I oppose, Hoover supported, and Smith opposed. I then proceeded to vote for Hoover in 1932 merely out of contempt for the Democratic Candidate, Franklin Roosevelt. Hoover was essentially the lesser of two evils.

If Smith had been the Democratic Candidate in 1932 however, I would have voted for him over President Hoover.

Smith, then Hoover, for myself as well. Smith was arguably the more libertarian of the two. As much as I like Hoover for his humanitarian work and his annunciation of constitutional principles campaigning against FDR, we would have done well to avoid Hoover's taxes and tariffs.
Also I have Nixon in 60 but not later. I think he was a different man then, in a different context.

Rather interesting that the only two Democrats you vote for in this period are the ones I wouldn't vote for.

I hate Bible-basher Ike and gold hating crook Nixon too much to ever consider voting for them.

And you take the racist Stevenson/Kefauver ticket?

What? I don't even........

Hmm?

[1]Reluctantly.
[2]Would get my full and undying support.
[3]Tough choice.  Not sure if I liked either him or Hoover, but prohibition tipped the scales in favor of Smith.
[4]The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
[5]I'd only support him for his foreign policy views.  Everything else is just horrible.
[6]And then I'd move to Canada if he won.
[7]Opposed the Vietnam War.
[8]I would have probably voted for him because of his seemingly non-interventionist platform.  Sometimes I have hope that he was really a proponent of a humble foreign policy all along, and the interventionist garbage was just Cheney's puppetry.

Hmm?

I mean granted, they did get alot of votes in the south but Stevenson and Kefauver were both pretty pro Civil Rights, in Stevenson's case I would argue even more so than Eisenhower, hell Adlai Stevenson would be considered a bleeding heart liberal peacenik today. The only way I could see your comment working is based on the fact that he won some of the Deep South states that at the time were so Solid Democratic that they would probably vote for Stalin if he had the word "Democrat" in front of his name. Stevenson was to Eisenhower's left when it came to civil rights, not his right.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Politics
Kefauver was also pro-civil rights, as exhibited by his refusal to sign the Southern Manifesto in 1956, the same year he ran as Vice President.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Manifesto

That is why I'm kind of confused by you calling this ticket "racist".
