I voted for Smith in 1928 because my primary issue would have been Prohibition, which I oppose, Hoover supported, and Smith opposed. I then proceeded to vote for Hoover in 1932 merely out of contempt for the Democratic Candidate, Franklin Roosevelt. Hoover was essentially the lesser of two evils.

If Smith had been the Democratic Candidate in 1932 however, I would have voted for him over President Hoover.
