If Moore becomes the GOP nominee (of which I think there is a 49% chance) it could potentially be competitive and draw some attention.

A Democratic senator, in Alabama, in 2017, yeah, well, okay. I don't think I'll ever see that.

If anyone hasn't done this yet, I calculated what a Jones win might look like based on the current partisan leanings of every county in Alabama compared to the state. I added each partisan leaning (for example, Jefferson is 16% more Democratic than the state as a whole) to the national democratic vote share average for the past two elections (51.54%). It produces this:

This would be a roughly 52-48 Jones win.

Now, it's not a perfect method for calculation; in this scenario, Jones would get 100.07% of the vote in Macon County. All that means is that Jones would have to pick up votes somewhere else. I expect Jones to get at least 80% in Macon County.

One could hope.

Moore is going to get the full support of the Republican Party unless he literally murders someone, in which case he'll only get most of the support.

This is the Republican party of today.

How to win in today's Republican party: Be as rancid a human being as possible → Claim you're not establishment → Huh → Win!

Lol. You're assuming that Republican voters have standards. I already know this race is going nowhere.

This is quite the bombshell. Let's see if Republicans are in the mood of electing a child abuser. We might see a D+1 in the senate from Alabama, of all places.

The more I hear about these allegations, the more I believe they are true. Moore needs to step aside.

I applaud you for putting country before party, we need more Republicans like you.

This. Also, I would encourage you to vote for Jones as a punishment to the Republican party. Tell them to give you a quality candidate.

How did none of this come about in any of his court races? Are there no investigative journalists in Alabama?

Trick question?
