Violent Crime Is Falling Nationwide — Here’s How We Know

Notable on their own, these declines also undercut politicized claims that crime is rising in “blue cities.” On the contrary, the data demonstrates that Democratic-led cities, which also happen to be some of the nation’s most populous, follow and in some cases lead the national trend toward decreasing violence.

The media panic about reform Justice Democrats was one of the biggest lies ever sold to the public.

Washington, D.C. literally has a higher homicide rate than Honduras (often considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world). This is simply unacceptable. While we should always applaud declining crime rates, we should not be misled into thinking that this makes crime not a serious issue.

No one is saying that crime isn't an issue, it always is. Just that American cities being portrayed like it's 'Escape from New York'  isn't an accurate reflection of the large-scale reality.

The mass riots and property damage visible in 2020 continue to become more remote, chronologically and otherwise.

Crime rates increased significantly in 2020, and the environment was highly favorable to lawbreaking if such events could happen. That wasn't going to last forever. This is reversion to mean, in that sense.

Sadly, I don't expect Biden to get much if any credit for this. Perception is reality for so many voters.

What? How on Earth could you conclude this from a piece that says in its entirety that crime in 2023 was down from 2022 levels. That isn't exonerating "Justice Democrats", who have lost several high profile elections in very liberal cities since 2020, at all.

what did Biden do that would affect the crime rate?  The Crime Bill that he wrote and most people hate was from the 90s.
