I dig the optimism Walt, but let's be realistic...Chafee is a long shot at this point.

Santorum is done in PA politics.  He'll either go K St, make his move to VA official, or else get an appointed position.

At least Schlessinger is an honest man. I respect him more than just about any Republican this cycle.

hahahhahah. For what? Like I said, his only chance at office ever again is if Wetterling wins his House seat and he takes it back against her, in which case he will sit in that House seat and be the do-nothing joke of a congressman he is now until he gets screwed by redistricting or gets the delusional idea he can win statewide again.

Jim Webb, certainly.  I would also include Mike McGavick.

Michael Steele if he loses is probably the most remarkable candidate I've ever seen and is certainly a possible presidential nominee

If Tester loses he also will show potential in taking Baucus seat when he retires or the governor's mansion

Canidates who are smoked if they lose include Bob Menendez and Jim Webb

This goes w/o saying, although I think more as governor in 09' as Christie is a shoo-in as the next senator in 2008, could someone even try to offer a reason why the most respected NJ politician would lose?
