The Moff isn't without fault. Yes, he's usually really good, but when does miss, he really misses. Cautiously optimistic.

It’s also been confirmed that the Moff is writing this year’s Christmas episode.

In true Moffat fashion, he had snuck the titles of both his episodes (Boom, Joy to the World) into interview answers during a marathon chat with Radio Times a few months back, when he explicitly ruled out returning to the show.

He’s such a magnificent b****rd, genuinely love how committed to the bit he always is.

He’s talking about this being his last Who episode again, but he does that every couple of years, and he’s such a prolific liar at this stage, that I would be entirely unsurprised if he’s already contracted to write another 12.

Finally watched the special and I have to ask:  Why did we have all this David Tennant nonsense, when Gatwa is already more interesting than anyone since Eccleston?!...at least Matt Smith at a minimum.

It's just amazing how quickly he slipped into it.

I think for most of the audience that has been watching since Doctor Who was revived in 2005 or those that have jumped on along the way, Tennant is sort of the Tom Baker of NuWho. For RTD as well, it probably eased him back into his role as showrunner. I'd also like to think that he had regrets as to how he wrapped up Donna's story at the end of Series 4. Ten and Donna are still my top Doctor/Companion pairing in NuWho (though Twelve and Bill got very close), so I'll pretty much always defend any decision putting more of them on screen, haha.

That was as showrunner though. Everything he wrote when RTD was showrunner ranks at the top of most lists.

Okay, was very impressed by that. Genuine bit of tension.

Thought a lot of the early scenes felt like they were written in such a way that you could practically see Capaldi and Coleman reading the script, it all felt very 12/Clara. But I genuinely love that era of the show, so I have no complaints about that.

The Doctor bragging about how you 'don't let your kids down', and continuing to reference his own fatherhood does play into my sense that we're building towards something Susan related, given he basically abandoned her, and hasn't gone back for her in over sixty years of screentime (The Five Doctors doesn't really count).

The fact the recurring actress this series is literally named Susan Twist is really messing with my head.

As usual, The Moff gave us another good who episode. I’d be fine with a The Moff/RTD joint dictatorship for life with Gatiss helping as well.
