I figure he would just go back to being Cardinal Ratzinger.

You'd think that, but he was a Cardinal-Bishop, and there are only seven of them, none of which is vacant.  Maybe a new rank of Cardinal-Archbishop just for retired popes?

This. Pope Emeritus is an excellent title.

I have read that after retirement he intends to enter a monastry in Italia as a simple monk. They still have to carry out some refurbishment - o.k. maybe it will not be so simple after all Cool.

Anyway, he will probably be called something like "Brother Benedict Papa Emeritus".

Either Joseph Ratzinger or Benedictus Ratzinger. Does it matter?

After he resigns, he'll have plenty of time to troll on Atlas forum as BennyXVI or TehPope.

Joseph Ratzinger seems most logical. After all the papal name goes with being a pope.
