It's probably going to be Las Vegas

Guess I'll be on vacation that week if I don't have an internship in the first place in the summer of 2020.

If the RNC choses Las Vegas. I think it's a strategy of trying to flip Nevada, preventing Arizona from Flipping (It will flip to the Dems in 2020), and help to bring back the Mormons home to the GOP in Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and mainly Utah.

It's because few cities are willing to host it in genera and Las Vegas stepped up, likely having to do with GOP billionaire Sheldon Adelson.

If it's in Vegas what are the odds that they hold the convention at a Trump property?

Has Las Vegas started getting more serious with its bid? I sure hope so. Vegas is the only city where a Trump led convention would truly fit the ethos and image of the host city. It just seems right for it to be hosted there.

Las Vegas would be right for the RNC. You have the Trump tower, casinos, buffets, billionaires and high end clothing. Perfect for the image.

I haven't seen any indication that they are.  Last I heard (as detailed earlier in this thread) it was just the Nevada GOP advocating for Las Vegas, and the city government itself wasn't on board.  I continue to suspect that Charlotte is the only city that really wants it, and Las Vegas is being propped up as fake competition for Charlotte because the RNC doesn't want to admit that no one else is interested.

Maybe the Republicans could hold their convention in Rhyolite.

(It's a ghost town, which could be fitting).

Buzzfeed News says that sources in the know are saying that (unsurprisingly) Charlotte is "in the lead" in the RNC host contest:

Big DNC news:

This would put it before the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

I think Atlanta was eliminated too soon, but I don't dislike any of these.

I really think it has to be Milwaukee. Denver had it only 3 conventions ago in 2008 while Houston and Miami Beach have weather/hurricane concerns. Also the heat there would be rough. Average high temperature in Milwaukee at that time of year is 80 degrees.

lol Milwaukee is such the obvious choice, Hillary lost WI because of the turnout collapse in the city.

There are so many reasons why Milwaukee is the obvious choice. New facilities, weather, good politics, etc.

I can see the logic for Miami. Florida is a much bigger EV prize than Wisconsin.

However, if the convention location has any effect (which is a big if), I feel like hosting the DNC in Milwaukee helps the party's image in Wisconsin, but also Michigan, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Iowa and Ohio while hosting the DNC in Florida really just helps in Florida.

Dems can afford to lose Florida, but CO and WI are critical.
