Opinion of Todd Rudgren

Todd Rudgreen is a musician and producer. He was in a few bands, but he is known alone for his album Something/Anything? and the novelty song "Bang on the Drum". He also is an accomplished music producer, and he's very well respected (Bat Out of Hell is probably his most significant album as a producer)

I remember Meat Loaf on VH1's "Storytellers" about 20 years ago telling a story about Todd Rundgren, who produced the Bat Out of Hell album.  Apparently the original version of "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" written by Jim Steinman was 27 minutes long, and when Meat & Jim performed it for Todd, he just sat through it and then shook his head.  Todd cut the song down to 8.5 minutes, to which Meat said, "Todd, you've destroyed the song."  Todd replied, "Eight and a half minutes, and I've destroyed a song?  What business are you in?"

Bat out of hell is one of the worst pieces of schlock in rock or music history. He gets HP status just for that.
