Dan Quayle's career ended effectively on January 20, 1993, when he left the Vice Presidency. He was just 46 year old, which is rather unusual age for those, who ends their careers.

I can't escape an impression that Vice Presidential selection actually harmed Quayle's political career.

What if we weren't selected in 1988 as Bush running-mate?

Also, why was Quayle considered to be so inexperienced? He had more experience than Barack Obama did in 2008.

1. Pure contrast to both his both running-mate (Bush Sr.) and his opponent (Lloyd Bentsen)
2. Frequent, idiotic gaffes
