NBC currently complaining the sentence is light

The idea that 7.5 years in prison for non-violent offenses is a "light sentence" just once again highlights the strain of vindictive punitiveness that runs through American politics, namely among liberals who otherwise like to posture as being above it all

Luckily it looks like New York will add on a few more unpardonable years. 16 different felonies!

Seven years for Manafort. Buh buh but Rick Wilson told me he’d die in prison.

He may well do so, the man turns 70 in less than a month and is allegedly not in the best of health.

These Manafort sentences will backfire for Trump and conservatives cheering them on. People hate the reality of two different justice systems. When you look at the litany of crimes Manafort committed, the disrespect of the court system with the witness tampering, and the fact he pretended to cooperate and did not, getting around 7 years doesn't sit right with people and they will remember.

Yeah, but old age can lead to a death by thousand cuts type thing faster than one might think.  In any case, he's also facing sixteen additional state charges.

Will he have to serve those NY state charges after he is done serving his time?

The biggest idiots are of course are Trump's supporters who absolutely refuse to acknowledge that this is blatant corruption and attempting to gain the justice system to save Trump's ass from Criminal prosecution.

Still, such stupidity, even willful stupidity, is better than those Trump supporters Corso completely amoral that they understand its corruption and Trump trying to thwart Justice to save himself, but are perfectly okay with it because he's on their team. (Paging Sanchez)

Top Mueller Prosecutor Stepping Down In Latest Clue Russia Inquiry May Be Ending

https://www.npr.org/2019/03/14/703108073/top-mueller-prosecutor-stepping-down-in-latest-clue-russia-inquiry-may-be-ending

Quote
One of the most prominent members of special counsel Robert Mueller's team investigating Russia's attack on the 2016 presidential election will soon leave the office and the Justice Department, two sources close to the matter tell NPR.

Andrew Weissmann, the architect of the case against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, will study and teach at New York University and work on a variety of public service projects, including his longstanding interest in preventing wrongful convictions by shoring up forensic science standards used in courts, the sources added.

The departure is the strongest sign yet that Mueller and his team have all but concluded their work.

Quote
His leaving will follow the departure of the senior-most FBI agent working on the Mueller probe, who has taken his own next step. Special Agent In Charge David Archey started a new job on March 4 as head of the FBI's office in Richmond, Va.

Earlier this month, another special counsel prosecutor, Brandon Van Grack, moved on to lead a Justice Department effort to enforce compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act, a law that has become the subject of intense interest following charges against Manafort, his right-hand-man Richard Gates, and former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn.

And WilmerHale, the law firm that Mueller and several other prosecutors left to help create the special counsel team, is preparing for the return of some of its onetime law partners, three lawyers have told NPR in recent weeks.

HE’S STILL BRINGING UP MUH CLINTONS IN 2019 GAHAHAHA.

Next time a Democratic President is in hot water for anything, we should demand equal investigations into Rutherford B. Hayes.

Well ya know....Republicans would move on from Hillary if Democrats would move on from 2016. We just need a teensy bit more bipartisanship

This is quietly the most pressing legal issue that Trump is facing but the NY state apellate court gave Summer Zervos (contestant from The Apprentice who says Trump kissed her without her consent) the go ahead to continue discovery on her defamation case. He’s likely going to have to sit for a sworn deposition by June

His lawyers know that Trump under oath is doom. They'll do everything possible to delay and avoid that. Would Zervos be likely to accept a settlement offer?

Well, at least that's something. I'm pretty dang upset at Pelosi for saying they're not going to do impeachment, so at least someone somewhere possibly holding Trump accountable for something is encouraging.

I don’t see why she would. Safety is the only thing I could see getting in the way. I’d make that mofo squirm tho, he’d likely end up having to pay for security

Mueller still not done with Rick Gates. I wonder what the ongoing investigations are?

 Maybe the inauguration?

Remember Elliott Broidy, the RNC fundraiser who paid a Playboy supermodel for her silence, and is rumored to have covered up an abortion?

Federal Authorities Raided Trump Fundraiser’s Office in Money Laundering Probe

A sealed search warrant obtained by ProPublica shows federal agents scoured Elliott Broidy’s office for documents related to China, Saudi Arabia and a Miami Beach club promoter.

I'm beginning to think perhaps Mueller didn't find anything impeachable if Trump seems so nonchalant (or relieved?) about releasing his findings to Congress and the public:
