So, Cohen is heading to jail today? I actually feel sorry for the guy. I'd much rather see Flynn in prison. Among others.

This is interesting if true, since it's a Republican-controlled committee:

A Republican controlled committee is doing it's actual job? Did we just get warped into a better timeline?

Let's be realistic with expectations. They're probably going to give him an hour of softballs, so that later he can claim he "already testified" when he ignores the House.

Good point, I don't know why I was expecting better. The Democrats on the committee would still get to question him though. Still, it is kind of fun to see Burr versus every other Republican because he isn't being as much of a hack as they want him to be.

White House Asked McGahn to Declare Trump Never Obstructed Justice

Quote
White House officials asked at least twice in the past month for the key witness against President Trump in the Mueller report, Donald F. McGahn II, to say publicly that he never believed the president obstructed justice, according to two people briefed on the requests.

Mr. Trump asked White House officials to make the request to Mr. McGahn, who was the president’s first White House counsel, one of the people said. Mr. McGahn declined. His reluctance angered the president, who believed that Mr. McGahn showed disloyalty by telling investigators for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, about Mr. Trump’s attempts to maintain control over the Russia investigation.

I'm sure Devin Nunes is high up there on that list of suspects in Congress who obstructed the investigation.

Obama Warned Trump Against Hiring Mike Flynn, Say Officials (May 8, 2017)
Quote
Former President Obama warned President Donald Trump against hiring Mike Flynn as his national security adviser, three former Obama administration officials tell NBC News.

The warning, which has not been previously reported, came less than 48 hours after the November election when the two sat down for a 90-minute conversation in the Oval Office.

A senior Trump administration official acknowledged Monday that Obama raised the issue of Flynn, saying the former president made clear he was "not a fan of Michael Flynn." Another official said Obama’s remark seemed like it was made in jest.

From Mueller's report, page 32:
Quote
The President-Elect had concerns because President Obama had warned him about Flynn shortly after the election. Bannon 2/12/18 302, at 4-5; Hicks 12/8/17 302, at 7 (President Obama’s comment sat with President-Elect Trump more than Hicks expected).

Trump just accused Hope Hicks and Steve Bannon of lying to the FBI.

Does Flynn's felony conviction mean that he'd lose his military rank?

There's no obligation for Flynn to surrender such a service-related privilege despite his status as an admitted criminal, so no.

Deutsche Bank Staff Saw Suspicious Activity in Trump and Kushner Accounts

Quote
Anti-money laundering specialists at Deutsche Bank recommended in 2016 and 2017 that multiple transactions involving legal entities controlled by Donald J. Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, be reported to a federal financial-crimes watchdog.

The transactions, some of which involved Mr. Trump’s now-defunct foundation, set off alerts in a computer system designed to detect illicit activity, according to five current and former bank employees. Compliance staff members who then reviewed the transactions prepared so-called suspicious activity reports that they believed should be sent to a unit of the Treasury Department that polices financial crimes.

But executives at Deutsche Bank, which has lent billions of dollars to the Trump and Kushner companies, rejected their employees’ advice. The reports were never filed with the government.

Deutsche Bank May Give Trump's Financial Records To Congress, Judge Rules

And in other news:

Wells Fargo, TD Bank turn over Trump financial records to House Dems

Keep following the money, House Democrats -that may be what brings down Trump if 2020 doesn't do it.

Senate GOP vows to quickly quash any impeachment charges

GOP senators say that if the House passes articles of impeachment against President Trump they will quickly quash them in the Senate, where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has broad authority to set the parameters of a trial.

While McConnell is required to act on articles of impeachment, which require 67 votes — or a two-thirds majority — to convict the president, he and his Republican colleagues have the power to set the rules and ensure the briefest of trials.

Oathbreaking lickspittles, one and all.

For all my political differences my respect for Justin Amasch has been earned for his commitment against the Russian-brought regime. Republicans want to speak about their patriotic duty to their nation and usually are giant hypocrites when they are revealed to be cowards. Amasch is far to the right on Trump on many issues and he has the guts to say the truth about the Mueller investigation.
