IRV is stupid and boring, with all this bargaining for eligible preferences and strategic voting.

It would be way cooler if we have only one vote and, when there's no majority, we simply have a runoff sometime later.

I don't see a problem with the current system.  Doing that would take forever.

Strongly oppose. IRV is only okay but FPTP is much worse and PR wouldn't work in Atlasia.

I am most decidedly NOT with Kal.

Of all the problems I have with Atlasia, IRV isn't one of them.  It works well for this forum, given the number of (active) registered voters we have.

I should have been clear that it should apply only to elections for single office. PR would definitively be better in multiple-seats elections, but I have no problem with IRV there.

Really? Having a second, final round week or two later, is "forever"? Certainly not in Atlasia.

I disagree. Atlasia has a lot of independents and people vote based on the candidate not the party a lot of the time. How many people would have voted for most of the TPP candidates if they were voting for the TPP list instead? Not to mention votes in government aren't heavily whipped by the parties. PR wouldn't be practical.

Back in the pre-Imperial Domain days, the Southeast Region used preference voting to reasonable effect.

We've used PR-STV for Legislative seats and approval voting for other offices for as long as I can remember (back to July 2008 and permitting the existence of any of these offices). When was this?
