Bloomberg with 6% in the new poll. I think with his incredible spending he has a real chance of buying the election. Since he won't compete in the early states, he probably won't get a majority but maybe he can buy Superdelegates in a brokered convention.

Having tons of money means nothing if you don't have a natural constituency that you can cobble together to win the nomination (the fiscally centrist, urban professional crowd that Bloomberg most appeals to makes up a small share of the primary electorate, and he's not even guaranteed to win that demographic). Bloomberg has a <1% chance of winning the nomination.

I think Bloomberg has a very real shot at being the democratic nominee in 2020.

I don't think Mike can overtake the frontrunners, but I'd be happy to back him if something were to happen to Biden. He'd make a great president.

bloomberg being in the race makes me drastically more likely to vigorously support joe biden specifically to suck as much air out of bloom's lane as i can

let it be known that my one-thousand and sixty-ninth post contains the word "suck"

The best way for Democrats to beat a New York billionaire who supports stop and frisk, is against raising the minimum wage, and a known misogynist is one of their own.

Bloomberg has spent 57 Mio. $ on ads - the past week alone:

Quote
Mike Bloomberg has outspent almost every other Democratic candidate on TV and digital ads since he entered the race just over a week ago.

In the wake of Bloomberg’s presidential campaign launch on Nov. 24, he’s invested $57 million in TV advertising, putting him on track to overtake fellow billionaire Tom Steyer, who has spent just over $60 million since July, according to data compiled by Advertising Analytics.

The latest data from the ad tracking firm shows Bloomberg has spent over $6 million on national TV spots, plus $3 million in local ads focused on New York and Los Angeles, and over $4 million in Texas spots. California and Texas combined serve up over 600 delegates to Democrats running in the 2020 primary.

Steyer has also spent some 60 Mio. already, but since July ...

"How many delegates will Bloomberg win?" would have been a more interesting question.

Most likely the same answer.

He would get at least a couple superdelegates

He could scrape up a few pledged delegates in NH and NV, assuming he's on the ballot in either.

An interesting perspective after Kamala's attack on Bloomberg in her dropout letter.

I guess there's a chance he starts getting momentum in the media, but I really struggle seeing where he can get his votes. I guess he has maybe a 2-3% chance of the winning the nom now, but thats it.

He'll become an easy target by everyone for trying to buy the election.

He wastes money that would be better spent supporting down-ballot candidates.

He will spike in name recognition to a point that he will almost rival Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Will Smith in name recognition.

Bloomberg is a Republican and is a Dem in name only, that's why he had to apologize for stop and frisk policy. He was supported by Guiliani during the 911 attacks and pictures showed him hugging Guiliani

If he is serious about beating Trump next year—rather than feeding his ego, he would use that $500 million for numerous projects to increase voter turnout.

Rich people have tried to buy elections before. Money can get you name recognition and message saturation, but if people just don’t like you, you still lose.

Yea, I kinda dropped the ball with that post not gonna lie. Moreso going for the winning an entire primary without attending debates, without contesting the first 4, it cuts out so many other factors that are at play and just assumes that if you drop enough money people will sort of just vote for you plainly because they saw you on TV. it's a bit unheard of strategy wise but I cannot see it working.
