Obama might not break 30% at this rate. Rice is closer than I expected in that Senate race though.

For all that Obama has jumped in the polls recently, he really has not done anything recently to make himself more attractive to social conservatives.  I guess it's not surprising that his gains are significantly smaller/non-existent in states where those issues are particularly important to the voters.

Oklahoma is going to be BY FAR his worst state, the demographics for him there are absolutely brutal.

Right now Leip's average has the race at 63-33 in a race where Obama has a 7-8 pt advantage nationally.  Had Kerry won by 8 pts, Oklahoma would've likely been around 55-44.

Conclusion: Oklahomans don't want them some Obama.

Its fair enough if they don't agree with him on social issues - but is this really what these states are voting on? Is the economy good in Oklahoma and Utah

But then we'd have this ugly hole shaped like Oklahoma on every national map. That's no bueno.

LOL

Kind of like Europe with no Switzerland... except Switzerland's shape is much more benign.

We basically had that from 1861 to 1907 anyway.
