No idea what you mean by that.

Contemporary, "acceptable" belief involves zero to minimal sacrifice. It is heartening to see a large group of people be willing to alter their behavior considerably for an entire month on the basis of a belief system. You would likely find statistically few Christians doing this--even those I know who observe Lent do not appear to maintain regular church attendance.

thats why even non Christians like Christmas and even loosely celebrate it.

Is that a good thing?

Yes, because I loved getting presents on Christmas from who I thought was Santa(who I thought was real till I turned 8 )when I was little .Also I liked putting up a Christmas tree and going to Christmas parties .

Surely, if we needed some secular holiday to use an excuse to give and receive gifts, we could choose some secular holiday or construct a Cult of Reason like in Revolutionary France. Why not Thanksgiving? An obese pilgrim could clamber down every noble patriot's chimney in late November, granting the "gifts of liberty" to materialistic little children.
