Huh. They are just asking for vote-stuffing. What's to stop a hacker from going in and stealing secret data?

No. By the way, me and a few of my fellow CS majors on campus just decided we're going to fix the vote. Wink

The problem here is that we go from having potential problems with centralised security to having every voter have to be responsible for their own computer in order for this to be effective.  Especially in a country like Estonia, where many people cannot necessarily afford the luxury of additional software, it's scary to think what percentage of the country would be vulnerable to a simple program that scanned IP addresses, tried administrative passwords, and hooked whatever they use for Internet voting to change the vote.

Still makes you wonder about the skills of hackers, and what would happen if the government server gets a glitch, wiping out thousands of votes...

Horrible idea.  I imagine that it wouldn't be too hard to find out what the IP address of the server is and then to attempt to hack into it, not to mention the possibility of either shenanigans or heretofore undetected bugs on the part of the programmer.

I suggest we attempt to fix the Estonian elections, and elect John Engle as their President.

No, definitely not.  Too many things can go wrong.
