Once again, these people will stop at nothing to downplay the situation and make it seem like it's somehow not that bad for Trump.

A *34 count felony conviction* is nothing like Kavanaugh. There is no allegory here.

And they removed it again. Cowards.

I genuinely considered it but then I forgot because I had to do more bar prep. Might pop some champagne this weekend though.

I thought you were a tee-totaler.

I am, but this would've been a good time to break that streak. Might just wait for the election though; that'll make me either drink champagne or vodka.

They claimed that if Cuomo was removed Trump would be pardoned in New York.

Hence time to implement my idea of blacklisting any person who ever said anything along those lines on social media and banning them from working in the Democratic Party for life. And this does mean Brooklyn Dad Defiant. (And no it does no matter if he retracted that tweet. It was never an acceptable view to ever have.)

Finally:

""The Biden administration has quietly given Ukraine permission to strike inside Russia — solely near the area of Kharkiv — using U.S.-provided weapons"

“'The president recently directed his team to ensure that Ukraine is able to use U.S. weapons for counter-fire purposes in Kharkiv so Ukraine can hit back at Russian forces hitting them or preparing to hit them,' a U.S. official confirmed," @ErinBanco

https://politico.com/news/2024/05/30/biden-ukraine-weapons-strike-russia-00160731"

This is something but it's way narrower than Ukraine can make use of. The bare minimum here is the ability to hit military targets 50 - 60km from the border inside Russia. Otherwise, Russia is going to continue staging forces and weapons all along the border and using them against Ukraine. What is to stop them from invading Sumy and Chernihiv Oblasts again? By these rules, Ukraine would have to just sit there, watching them assemble on the Russian side, just like Kharkiv. It's nuts.

/rant

With the precedent now set for Ukraine being able to strike on internationally recognized Russian territory, I think it's only a matter of time before any further guardrails (short of like, hitting the Kremlin or something) get tossed out as the useless relics they are. Once the fears of "escalation" are again proven wrong, every subsequent step becomes easier. I don't think Ukraine is going to be fighting with its hands tied for long.

Is it me or is this (the court case itself) not really a matter of the public agreeing or disagreeing?

I was going to post the same thing but you beat me to it.

Yup. Our justice system should not be dependent on public opinion. Nobody is too important or powerful to be held accountable. Trump had the best lawyers money could buy, and he had his day in court. He was found guilty. End of story.

I am very unsurprised that Kasie Hunt was the one who tried to pull the whole "actually this may help Trump" argument

There's nothing unreasonable about what she asked. We don't know what the effect of this is going to be.

Conway was mad about something else.

I find it very unreasonable. If Joe Biden was convicted on 34 counts, you would not have any host asking "but what about this helping Biden?" it's complete both sides-ism.

I don't think it helps Trump at all, but a similar case would hurt Biden more than it hurts Trump. Why? That's easy: Because liberals and progressives, even the most pro-Biden partisan Dems, aren't in a cult. And if he or any other Dem was indicted over credible allegations - let alone convicted - they would abandon him faster than Usain Bolt can run. There's a reason Menedenez and Cuomo are widely discredited among Dem circles. Dems and Biden supporters aren't a cult.

We’re going to have to wait a week for polling to catch up.

I expect a bump for Biden in the polls.

Then we wait further to see if the bump lasts - as I’ve written on here before, I don’t think any gains by Biden will last more than a few weeks. Biden is too inept….

Just got up. People are still advancing this "the President has to be above the law because he's always been so in the past" narrative? Lmao.
