*- Kiefer, the Speaker of the House, assumes the presidency when both R.T. Lincoln, and Garfield are killed by a bomb hidden under the stage at a joint speech in Richmond, Va. It was planted by the son of an ex-confederate soldier.
**- Arthur died March 4th, the day of the inauguration from Bright's disease. He never takes oath of office, and Cleveland become the next president.
