If we had been granted MPs or some other form of representation to petition the government, I would've been anti-independence. The lack of representation would've been the key thing with me. I probably would've been quite happy to stay if we were given a few MPs.

If there was self government, even with a monarch, I probably would have opposed independence.  It was not offered until ti was too late.
