Considering how much PPP exaggerates Dem numbers early in a campaign, I would take this with a grain of salt.  But I hope that Cutler runs so that LePage at least has some chance.

No they don't...

PPP may see potential for Democratic wins before that potential vanishes. But it can also see the potential for Republican wins before the potential vanishes.

Republicans...Does Obama hate whites?

Yes 37%
No 38%
Unsure 25%

Wow...

PPP lets Republicans show what they really believe even if (or especially if?) it isn't pretty.

It's one thing to hold a politician in contempt based upon real incompetence, misconduct, or neglect. When Dubya was messing things up with huge blunders or dishonesty I consistently said "The elder Bush or Reagan would have never made that mistake". I tried to pull my punches on partisanship because failures of policy were far more dangerous than the personality behind those failures.

I can only wonder how much of the meme "President Obama hates white people" is psychological projection. It's much like the smear that Jews are inordinately greedy and materialistic* -- that the person concurring with such a statement is asked about his attitudes toward wealth and its perquisites... and the person saying that Jews are inordinately greedy and materialistic shows his extreme greed and materialism  through questions about himself.

Beyond any doubt, many Americans remain uncomfortable with a clean-cut, cautious, intelligent black family in the White House. Those 37% of Maine Republicans who believes that the President hates white people -- shame on them for their gross and malicious ignorance!  Either they are racists or they or they have fallen for sophisticated propaganda that offers bigotry that doesn't look like bigotry to them. After all, Barack Obama is not a pliant token with a strictly-ceremonial role.

*Despite the Jewish-sounding surname I am not Jewish or of Jewish origin -- as if either would matter.  I do not believe that Jews are any more greedy or materialistic than any other identifiable sector of the American public on ethnic or religious lines. Extreme greed and materialism do not make people more successful at what they do, but they certainly make any failure sting all the harder.
