State Opening
of the Fourth Council of Lincoln

Verum Potestatem Facit Lex
September 11, 2019

Good evening, Councillors, Justice, and Lincolnites!

We gather here tonight to witness the start of a new Council. Our Third legislature was cut short by a snap election called to ensure the democratic legitimacy of our region, but the new mandate that our wonderful seven incoming Councillors have is admirable and it will truly be a path to strengthen our government.

I wish to get work done regarding many priorities during this next month. Our communities claim for it: our Native Atlasians, our children, our teachers, our sick, our poor, our marginalized cannot wait for petty squabbles to be over. This next legislature will have a partisan and ideological composition that I know will make our region progress in a strong, friendly, conciliatory manner, and I will be there to guide all of us during the process with the help of our awesome Council.

Now, Councillors, I ask those who consider themselves possessing the confidence of this Council to form a government in the name of the people of Lincoln to post so in a prompt manner in my office so I can immediately open the vote. Please abstain from posting directly in this thread before the vote is open, and as soon as a Councillor requests the right a vote will be opened.

Thank you, Lincoln! Thank you, Councillors! Let's get 'er done.

Councillor JGibson has requested to form a government. Councillors, on this request, please vote AYE or NAY.

The vote on JGibson's nomination has ended, and it passes with a 5-2-0-0 vote. As such, I appoint JGibson Chancellor of Lincoln.

Ninja, what about you? If neither declare interest, we'll just let it go vacant but I feel it makes parliamentary procedure easier to have an Oppo Leader and we need to start to get things moving.

Okay then, I have given the Opposition enough time. We'll make do without a Leader.

State Opening Finished

Thank you, Councillors and people of Lincoln! This now concludes the fourth session's State Opening, which will be of course archived for historical purposes. Thank you, and let's get to work!
