Assuming she wins her election in 2018, how would Tammy Baldwin do in the 2020 primary?  I'd say she wouldn't get the nomination, but it would be interesting to see how an LGBT candidate would fare for the Dems.  I believe this would be the first openly LGBT candidate for the Dems, though Fred Karger was the first for a major party.

I'd say it's critical for her to win IA, it's the first state and it borders WI.  Depending on who else runs, she could have a shot at NH, but then SC could be tough.  My guess is that she drops out sometime in February.

Right now, she's actually my pick to win the 2020 nomination. She hits the right identity politics buttons for the Dems (likely picking a non-white VP) and her history shows she can pivot fairly effectively from standard Dem to left-wing firebreather.

Would not appeal to all the constituencies of the Democratic Party, so Sanders's performance is likely close to her ceiling. You can't lose blacks by a 4:1 margin and win a Democratic primary.

I like Tammy a lot. I know her personally. She is a great Senator, and I am very hopeful she can ride an anti-Trump wave to reelection. Having said that, I don't think she could put together a strong enough campaign to win the 2020 nomination. And I doubt she'd run.

Do you think she can win reelection in a neutral year, and if Walker wins the gubernatorial race?

No such thing as a "neutral year" given the partisanship in Wisconsin. I would say that, given that she beat Tommy Thompson, yes, she could beat a strong GOP candidate even in a year that didn't naturally favor the GOP, but I doubt that 2018 will be a good year for the GOP in general, and Walker will have a harder time getting reelected than she will.

I think she might run, but I don't like her as my senator personally.

A total non-starter.
