The current situation:
Economy: There's been some better-than-normal growth the past 2 or 3 quarters, attributed by some to a growing green industry. (4)
Domestic: With a narrower majority, PM Sanders is forced to compromise more, eventually leading to only minor changes, including a 12$ per hour minimum wage, which only barely passed with some Liberal defections. (2)
Foreign: North Korea has been upholding their end of the deal, Afghanistan is stable without US troops, and there's very few major places of conflict. (5)

THE GOVERNMENT:
Progressive: Led by PM Bernie Sanders (Pro-Burlington), the Progressives continue to tout their achievements, and say they need a new mandate to ensure everyone has a share in the growing economy. Social Democratic, Progressive, Left-Wing populist.

Liberal: Led by MP Beto O'Rourke (Liberal-El Paso), the Liberals push for a moderate economic policy, saying that the current economic growth is proof that the current model works. Socially the party is left-leaning. Social Liberals.

Socialist: Led by MP Kshama Sawant (S-Seattle), the Socialists continue to push for hard-left policies. They say the government needs to go further in their policies, pushing for an NHS-like system for the US, forcefully breaking up big tech companies, and some vocal members have begun to express support for a UBI to redistribute wealth. Democratic Socialist with minority Communist factions.

Green: Led by MP Howie Hawkins (G-Rochester), the Greens hope to replicate their success from 2020. They led a push for more green energy funding, and say that their actions helped grow the economy. Although the environment is their #1 priority, the majority of the party says capitalism is a deeply flawed system that needs to be done away with. Eco-Socialist and Environmentalist.

THE OFFICIAL OPPOSITION:
Moderates: Led by Joe Manchin (M-Fairmont) hoping to replicate their success from 2020, the Moderates lean liberal on some economic issues and lean conservative on most other issues. They argue many of the same points as the conservatives, although they often approve of the government's decisions on expanding healthcare, and especially on a bill fighting the opioid crisis. They voted against the minimum wage increase due to concerns about local business but say they would vote for a cost-of-living based minimum wage.

Conservatives: Led by Ron DeSantis (Con-Tallahassee), the Conservatives are still nominally part of the official opposition, but now consider themselves much closer to Trump and the People's Party. DeSantis has pushed for an anti-immigration plank in the party platform (though not as extreme as the People's Party's plank to try and dissuade some members from leaving) leading to a number of MPs announcing their retirement this election, either moving to the Moderates or leaving politics altogether. Social Conservatives, anti-immigrant.

OTHER OPPOSITION:
People's: Still led by MP Donald Trump (P's-Midtown), the People's party is mostly focused on immigration, and their signature policy, a wall along the southern border. Anti-immigrant.

Christian Democrat: Led by Darrell Castle (CD-Memphis), the Christian Democrats are extremely socially conservative, and want a "return to Christian values in contrast to the turn towards godlessness America has taken". They're very far-right on social issues, and are anti-immigrant, as they say it has led to "the islamification of America". Anti-immigrant, anti-islam, social conservatism.

America First: Led by MP Richard Spencer (AF-Alexandria), America First is a far-right nationalist and borderline neo-nazi party. Richard Spencer swatted away a leadership challenge recently. Spencer continues to push that the white genocide conspiracy theory is real. Nationalist with large Neo-Nazi factions.

Libertarian: Led by MP Rand Paul (Libertarian-Bowling Green), the Libertarians are a third opposition group on their own, although they will occasionally vote with the government on social issues, like legalization of marijuana. Socially liberal, economically very pro-free market

NEW PARTIES:
Anarcho-Libertarian Party: Led by former Libertarian MP Darryl W. Perry (A-L Keene), the Anarcho-Libertarians want to abolish the federal government and... that's it.

AS ALWAYS, IF YOU WANT TO SPLIT YOUR VOTE JUST SAY WHICH PARTIES TO SPLIT IT BETWEEN, AND DON'T VOTE IN THE POLL.

2 days.

Results:

Progressives: 284 seats (+12)
Moderates: 182 seats (-2)
Liberals: 170 seats (+74)
Greens: 102 seats (+14)
Christian Democrat: 91 seats (+47)
Socialist: 57 seats (-13)
Libertarian: 45 seats (-43)
Conservative: 23 seats (-30)
People's: 23 seats (-65)
America First: 23 seats (+6)

Government: 613 seats (+87)

The election was seen as a bloodbath for the right, as the Conservatives crashed spectacularly, leading to DeSantis resigning as leader, but also the People's party, which led to Trump announcing his retirement, and leaving no real leader left for the party, making a merger with the Conservatives a possibility. Rand Paul tendered his own resignation as party leader, with a number of members wanting to take his spot.

Probably the biggest surprise was the Christian Democrats becoming the largest firmly right-wing party. Castle states that "America is finally seeing the light of our lord, and that the homosexuals, the islamists, and other unbelievers in this country go against what we need to stand for"

PM Sanders' government gains a huge mandate, but mainly on the backs of the Liberals, and now some members of the Liberals are calling out for excluding the socialists...
