It makes sense. In 2004, Daschle's defeat was part of a plan that would tip the senate balance towards the Republicans.

In 2010, even if they manage to defeat Reid, there is no way they will even come close to reclaiming their majority. So there is no upside in voting out the current Majority Leader.

Other than the fact that he kinda sucks as Majority Leader.
