I remember when Jack Conway pulled out the killer Aqua Buddah attack on Rand Paul in 2010.
Not all of them are bad. Deciding 90%+ of cases via plea bargains and using the threat of maximum fines and prison time to force people to cop to crimes they may not have committed is pretty evil. But, again, the idea in general is useful.
Plus, I'm not sure if our justice system could handle a situation where all cases go to trial. Especially since it's atrophied and practically none go to trial.
As a defense attorney, I assure you it could not, and further assure you that plea bargaining is a good thing. Prosecutor's office's that try to be dicks and claim we don't plea bargain Etc are usually hellholes and headaches to practice in.
