Political comedy at this point is pretty much just a sort of self-congratulatory exercise for people to feel superior to their opponents.

That is a good point. Most people who commentate in a political sense have got some axe to grind with their opposite ideology.

Then they chalk up how good they are sounding confident and superior.

Everyone seems to be spitting from a great height.
