Well, I thought he would lose in 2008, so I may be a bit pessimistic, but I find it unthinkable that he will get the requisite 40% of white voters.  There's no overriding reason for them to set aside their primary motivation this time.

A 2nd thread of 'Is Obama going to lose?', seems like confidence in Obama is plummeting.

More like confidence in white American's racism is rising.  The truth is beginning to sink in to our population of young idealists here - America is a frightful and repulsive place.
