Warren was on Full Frontal, and when asked if she is running in 2020, she gave the, "I'm running in 2018 for Senate in Massachusetts" answer.

Kander's headed back to New Hampshire on July 6th (he was just there a few weeks ago):

CNN’s Eric Bradner has been doing these “#2020 Vision” news roundup stories every Friday for the last several weeks.  They give you a short helping of the preceding week’s 2020 news.  Here’s the one for today:

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/06/30/politics/2020-vision-kirsten-gillibrand-single-payer/

Most of the stuff mentioned there has already been discussed on this board if not this very thread, but here are two tidbits of interest:

The above would be more useful if we knew who the “smart Democrats” in question were.  Are they actually people who are plugged in to Senate Dems, and in a position to know something?  Or just smart people who follow the news?

The USS Iowa?  Is Harris just trolling us now?  She doesn’t want to create a flurry of 2020 speculation by visiting the state of Iowa, so she goes to a ship named after the state.  Tongue

I really do believe Franken when he says he's not going to run. The way he denies interest is more real than the way others do.

I can't remember where I heard it, but I've heard that he's deferring to Klobuchar if she runs. He knows that they'd cannibalize one another's base and it seemed like Franken feels he owes a lot of his political success to Klobuchar.

Harris is raising a bunch of $ for Dems up in 2018:

The story also notes that she’ll be keeping up an active travel schedule in the fall to do more fundraisers.  Also interesting how the large-ish # of California House seats in play benefits Harris.  She has more of consequence going on in her own backyard than, say, someone like Chris Murphy.

Garcetti asked about a run for president, and says that he’s “not running”.  But his answer is clearly meant to suggest the present tense, as in, he’s not running for president right this second, but that doesn’t preclude him jumping into the 2020 race in, say, 2019:

Also, when he did an event in Wisconsin last month, he made this comment in a media interview there, regarding whether a big city mayor could make the jump to the presidency without holding any statewide office first:

Jake Tapper asked Sasse if there is any chance of him challenging Trump for the 2020 GOP nomination, and Sasse gives a response in which he changes the subject, and doesn't come anywhere close to addressing the question:

Politico has a new story on how de Blasio's efforts to build a national profile seem to have fizzled, and he's trying to reboot the process:

I think Trump will win the nomination for the republicans by default for being the incumbent. As for the Democrats, I think it might be Warren right now, which terrifies me. For the libertarian, I am guessing that Adam Kokesh might get it due to being the only declared candidate so far. As for the other parties, I don't really care all that much

I hope, I hope, I HOPE, that this means that he's open to another term as Sec State in the next Dem administration.

Though yet again. As a shameless hack for the Prog Populists, I hope all of these centrist has beens run, and I hope only one of ours runs. We'll have it wrapped up by Super Tuesday.

The Bernie wing seems to love Tulsi Gabbard for certain positions when she's one of the most conservative Dems in the House/Senate. Don't expect them to pick any better come 2020 unless it's Bernie who runs.

Gabbard is probably my least favorite possible Democratic candidate for 2020, and I say that as someone who liked Bernie a little more than Hillary. No idea why so many in the Bernie camp idolize her as a beacon of progressiveness.

They latched onto her after she resigned from her position as DNC vice-chair in order to endorse him, and since then it's been a case of being unwilling to see how flawed she is/not researching her enough.

She went with Sheldon Whitehouse, John McCain, and Lindsey Graham.

Fun fact: Of the incoming class of Senators in 2012, Warren was the last of that group to do an overseas trip.  Her first one didn't take place until near the end of 2014.  But she's on the Armed Services Committee now, so I guess she has to care more about foreign policy.  Tongue

None of whom are likely to run in 2020 or 2024 (unless Whitehouse is doing something I don't know about).

Oh yeah, I know they're not running and Warren is.  I didn't intend for my post to be a criticism of your post or anything like that, so I hope you didn't take it that way.  Your post is exactly the sort of info that should be in this thread.  I was just posting more info for interested readers.

Man, these guys are pretty big liars.  Booker isn't "actively thinking about higher office"?  Yeah, right.  Not that Booker is unique in that regard.  All of the prospective candidates say something like this when asked about a presidential run, and all of them are lying.  Tongue
