Southern Counties where Carter did better in '80 than he did in '76

I know there are a couple in Mississippi (Hinds, Chickasaw) but what other Southern Counties did Carter actually manage to improve in?

I forgot some.

GA: Quitman, Upson, Hancock, and Warren county.

Upson is a lot whiter than most of the Southern counties that swung to Carter in '80. What explains that?

AL: Sumter, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Wilcox, Dallas, Bullock, Macon, Lee, and Chambers counties
LA: Orleans, Plaquemines, St. James, Iberville, Red River, De soto, Lincoln, Claiborne, and Webster parish.
FL: Gadsden county
NC: Swain, Durham, and Warren counties
VA: Lexington (city), Lunenburg, Petersburg (city), Emporia (city), Williamsburg (city), Prince Edward, Harrisonburg (city), Lexington (city), Clifton Forge (city), Charlottesville (city), Richmond (city), Brunswick, and Franklin (city)
WV: Ohio county
MD: Baltimore (city), Baltimore, Talbot, Dorchester county.
TX: Zavala and Houston county.
KY: Jefferson, Nelson, Fayette, Owsley, Clay, Perry, Harlan, and Bell county.
MO: St. Louis (city), Boone, and Cole county.

Also that's a surprisingly large number of (mostly) cities that swung to Carter in VA considering he went from losing the state by less than 2 points to losing it by about 13.

is this based off of margin or total?

I assume it's based on margin. Anderson caused Carter to win some counties by a wider margin while getting the same % or slightly less compared to what he got in '76.
